BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH John W. Gould, seventh son of the late Judge Gould, of Litchfield, Connecticut, was born on Saturday, the 5th day of November, 1814. He was christened John Gould; but ha took the initial W in 1835, while residing in New-York, to escape the inconvenience of being mistaken and addressed for other John Goulds of that city.
